RECONDO - Reconnaissance Commando
The term is coming from the Vietnam war era where small teams were deployed behind the enemy lines in order to gather intelligence and conduct raids. The typical teams were 3-8 men, in rare occasions they used larger teams of 12-18 fur up to extended durations on the field. This inspired the birth of my RECONDO model.
I designed this knife to fill the needs of the reconnaissance soldiers. In a Long Range recce patrol. A recce does not use the knife to build a buschraft shelter but may required to do tasks which are beyond the capabilities of standard fighting knives. Yet the recondo is capable to fight if the need arise. The relatively compact size and light weight does not add a huge burden to the individual soldier.
The wide blade made of .180 thick 52100 high carbon steel at 60-61 HRC. This gives a strong knife with a sharp edge and good cutting performance which is easy to maintain in the field.
The Recondo GEN 2 has arrived and phasing out the earlier version. The Gen 2. has a slightly modified thumb ramp area for more precise cutting and better overall control of the knife. You can identify the second gen version by the harpoon style thumb ramp of it.
